Hi all, as some of you may already know Mistress is out of the water and undergoing a major refit. She is having a big birthday after 12 years of chasing blue and Black marlin along Australia’s east coast from Cairns to the Gold Coast.

On the list are new engines, a new generator, re furnished interior, new LED lighting, and a full paint job.

She is out of the water on the Gold Coast. Work is being done by Captain Brett and Steve, who was involved in the building of the boat some 13 years ago in New Zealand. Mistress came out of the water three weeks ago, and already the original engines have been removed, the generator is out and the tower has been removed. The refit will be completed by August, ready for the Cairns heavy tackle Black Marlin Season.

Progress reports and photos will be posted as they occur.

We still have days available for the Cairns Black Marlin Season so get in quick and be the first to experience fishing on this beautiful vessel, with all her new jewellery .

Tight lines and good fishing………….

Captain Brett Alty

After a great 2012 Cairns season with Captain Brett Alty being awarded the Top Release Captain for Black Marlin in the Pacific Ocean by the Billfish Foundation. Mistress is looking forward to another great charter season for 2013.

As most of you would be aware the Green Lobbyist Groups are trying to ban fishing in the Giant Black Marlin capital of the World.

We urge people to take the opportunity to fish for the giant black Marlin in Cairns while we still can.

Email or call to book for the 2013 season we have good days currently available so get in and book your trip before we fill our season.

Mistress and Captain Brett Alty have received the award for top release Captain Black Marlin Pacific Ocean by the Billfish Foundation.

All of the black marlin were caught in the Cairns Great Barrier Reef heavy tackle Black Marlin season by the guests that chartered Mistress in 2012.

We still have dates/days available for charter for the Cairns black marlin season this year.

With all the pressure being put on the Great Barrier Reef and Cairns fishery by the Green Movements, it is looking quite possible that the marlin fishing fleet will be closed out from fishing for the Giant Black Marlin in this area in the forseable future, so we urge anglers to take the opportunity to book fishing trips now to make the most of the fishing in this area while it is still available.

Captain Brett Alty and Mistress were also awarded the top release captain for Blue Marlin in the Pacific Ocean.

All of these blue marlin were caught on the Gold Coast (1 hour south of Brisbane). The Gold Coast has always been one of the worlds best blue marlin fisheries, although it is not commonly known.

Captain Brett Alty and Mistress’s best blue marlin day saw 11 blues and one striped marlin released between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30.

After 3 weeks of a full overhaul with regular maintenance and the addition of some new updated equipment Mistress was back out in the big blue ocean off the Gold Coast today. After a crisp & cool morning with 15 knots of south westerly breezes Skipper Captain Brett Alty found bait and warm water in around 300 meters and pulled the hooks on a yellowfin at the boat, 15 minutes later hooking a nice 200 pound Striped Marlin! The Stripey was successfully tagged and released on a Larva Lure (NightSky). The wind died off during the afternoon to around 5 knots making a nice day on the water. The weather is looking good to get Mistress out again soon, possibly tomorrow or early on next week.
