Geale (Tiger) - Cairns Skipper
Tiger is a Cairns resident with 20 years experience on Gameboats fishing for
Giant Black Marlin along The Great Barrier Reef.
Initially Tiger worked as a Deckhand (Mate) with many well known and highly
regarded Skippers including Peter Kirkby and for 8 years with Brian Felton on
"Kanahoee".
Subsequent to obtaining his Masters qualifications Tiger has Skippered a number
of Cairns Boats for varying periods. These include "Calypso", "Sea Venture",
"Moonshine" and "Billfish"
Tiger has earned his reputation as being amongst the top Cairns based Skippers
as a consequence of consistent fishing performance and Tournament success. He
has been involved in numerous captures or Tag/Releases of Black Marlin over the
magic 1000lb mark.
Tiger is also an excellent spear fisherman who can always ensure that on board
fish meals are comprised of the finest species available on the Great Barrier
Reef
Tiger holds qualifications as Master Class 5 and a Marine Engine Driver Grade 2
Brett Alty (Snooks) - Goldcoast Skipper (Also drives or Decks in Cairns)
Brett is a lifelong game fisherman. He caught his first Billfish in 1984 at the
age of 12 and has held National Records in Australia and Papua New Guinea. He
was the first angler in Australia to tag 4 Blue Marlin in day, at the age of
15.
In 1989 Brett commenced professional fishing on the Gold Coast and Cairns
working as a Deckhand for Skippers such as Phil Roebuck, Peter Kirkby, Ray
Johnson, and Peter Radtke. He became a qualified Skipper in 1995, and drove the
36' custom "Gold Strike" for the next 3 years.
Brett spent 1999 in the Maldives as Captain of the 45' Hatteras "Mad Hatter" and
returned to Australia to oversee construction of "Mistress", take her on sea
trials in New Zealand, and then sail her across the Tasman sea to Australia.
During off seasons Brett has experience commercially fishing for Mackeral, and
longlining for Broadbill and Tuna as Engineer/ Relief Skipper on the 138'
"Santa Rocca"
Brett is qualified as a Master Class 5 Fishing and Trading, and as a Marine
Engine Driver Grade 2. He has extensions allowing him to drive a commercial
boat up to 200 miles offshore.
